Citation XLS
Midsize jet
The Citation XLS is the improved successor to the best-selling Excel, featuring enhanced PW545B engines for superior performance and efficiency. It retains the stand-up cabin and short-field utility, combining midsize comfort with light jet operating costs for seamless executive travel.

Enhanced Performance and Efficiency
Overview
The Cessna Citation XLS (Model 560XL), with its first delivery in 2003/2004, represents the successful refinement of the world's best-selling Excel line. It retains the core features that defined its predecessor, the class-leading stand-up cabin (5,7 feet high), large 90 cubic feet of baggage space, and excellent short-field access. The primary upgrade defining the XLS lies in its power plant: it features more powerful Pratt & Whitney PW545B turbofans, delivering increased thrust and superior fuel economy. This enhancement provided immediate operational benefits, including improved takeoff performance, a 200-pound increase in maximum gross weight, and the ability to climb faster and more directly to its 45,000-foot service ceiling. In the cockpit, the XLS maintained the respected Honeywell Primus 1000 EFIS avionics, but in an updated, modernized digital display format. The XLS successfully streamlined the Excel formula, offering a faster, more capable aircraft that seamlessly married midsize comfort with light jet operating costs.
Midsize Comfort, Light Jet Access
Luxury interior
The Citation XLS maintains the revolutionary interior architecture of the Excel. By structurally lowering the cabin floor, it provides true standing headroom, ensuring easy movement and superior comfort. The wide, 18.6-foot-long cabin and double-club seating create a spacious and highly productive environment.
True Stand-Up Cabin
The XLS features 5,7 feet of cabin height, the first jet in its class to offer true standing headroom. This dramatically enhances passenger comfort and mobility throughout the entire 18-foot cabin.
Wide-Body Executive Seating
Inheriting width from the Citation X design, the cabin comfortably seats 8-9 passengers in a spacious double-club configuration. The generous 5,5 ft width optimizes shoulder room and personal space.
Unrivaled Cargo Utility
The XLS offers a massive 90 cubic feet of total baggage space, accessible in flight. This ample capacity, combined with its short-field performance, ensures you can maximize both payload and airport access.

The XLS Performance Leap
Key feature
The Citation XLS took the world’s best-selling cabin and paired it with crucial technological and performance upgrades. These two features define the XLS generation, ensuring a faster, more flexible flight schedule and providing assurance through a modernized, reliable operational platform.

Superior Mission Flexibility and Faster Climb Performance
Performance & Technical Excellence
The XLS significantly enhanced its utility by upgrading to more powerful Pratt & Whitney PW545B engines and achieving a 200-pound increase in Maximum Gross Weight (MTOW). The stronger engines deliver superior thrust, allowing the aircraft to reach its 45,000-foot cruising altitude faster and more directly than the original Excel, which translates to a quicker, smoother journey with less time in lower-level turbulence. Crucially, the MTOW increase provides greater mission flexibility for the charter client. This allows for a heavier payload, meaning more passengers and baggage or the ability to carry more fuel for extended range flights, ensuring your demanding itinerary is always met without compromise on capacity or distance. This operational edge makes the XLS a more capable and versatile aircraft than its predecessor.

Digital Cockpit and Enhanced Ground Comfort
Safety & Operational Advantage
The XLS modernized the pilot’s environment, which provides a tangible benefit in passenger assurance and reliability. The cockpit’s Honeywell Primus 1000 EFIS was updated by replacing older, heavy CRT screens with sleek, modern LCD displays. This technological shift improves system reliability, reduces pilot workload, and ensures optimal clarity for the flight crew, signaling a commitment to modern operational safety. Furthermore, the Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) was made standard on all XLS models. The APU allows the cabin to be pre-cooled or pre-heated before passenger boarding without running the main engines, providing immediate comfort upon arrival at the aircraft and enhancing overall dispatch reliability. This blend ensures a safer, more predictable, and more comfortable travel experience from the moment you arrive at the airport.
